Driving Home For Christmas

Not long now for that big Christmas dinner with all the family and I can't wait.

For the past 4 years I have spent Christmas with my partners family down in Southampton. With us living 4 and half hours away we don't get to visit as often as we like so always make sure we make up for it on the holidays.

The drive is long and I always make sure I have things prepared incase of a traffic jam ex. water, food, magazines etc...

On one of our trips a few years ago we had a major car problem. We were going down the motorway and all I remember is my partner looking at me and pressing the gas pedal. All power was gone! We spent the next 2 hours sat on the side of the road with the dog waiting for the RAC to come rescue us.

What that trip has done to me is made me think about more than just the food and water. I now take a blanket as this is something I didn't have and at 9pm it was cold!

My partner is very good when it comes to car safety he checks tyre pressure, oil and brakes everytime before we leave. We also have a fully stocked car of all the emergency equipment.  We have a  new Landrover Defender which he is very passionate about so he is always checking everything proforms perfectly.

Please if you are travelling this Christmas be safe, remember to always check your tyres before going on a long journey. Some of the most important things to check is the Pressure, the Tread and the Condition and if you feel that you need a tyre expert’s opinion or that your tyres need to be replaced, you can buy cheap tyres online from Point S website without any initial payment.’

Tyres are the only parts of the car which are in contact with the road and safety in acceleration, braking, steering and cornering all depend on this relatively small area of road contact.
It is so import for tyres to be maintained in good condition at all times and the correct tyre replacements are fitted when they need to be replaced.

Cars differ in the amount of pressure needed in each tyre so checker handbook or online. To check tread you can do the 20p test. Use the part on a 20p that I have marked with a red line to measure the tread size. If a tread is not as deep as this check with a garage to see if it needs replacing.

Also check if tyres are perished, look for cracks in the tyres and sidewalls and feel for vibration.

Also make sure you have the proper equipment in your car to be able to remove the tyre. ( I was in a friends car the other week and she had a flat. I went to change it I got it all up on the jack to realise she didn't have the key to take off the hub cover, luckily a passer by had one). Make sure the spare is in a good condition too.

A torch, warning triangle and hi vis jacket will also come in handy for changing a tyre in the dark to alert passes by.

I know this is different to what I normally write about but I feel strongly about it.

Be safe this Christmas, hope you all have an amazing time and I wish you all the best whether you are staying put or driving somewhere this Christmas

Christmas Fact

fact

Many Japanese people eat KFC for Christmas dinner, thanks to a successful marketing campaign 40 years ago. KFC is so popular that customers must place their Christmas orders 2 months in advance. Apparently their busiest day is Christmas Eve.

Well that would be a lot easier for washing up!! I don't think I would be happy if I saw a Crispy Strip on my plate this christmas.

What Do you Blog About?
I blog about everything to be honest! Beauty, food, lifestyle, travel, fitness, mental health, EVERYTHING. I don't like to restrict myself and I like my blog to be an extension of my life! It is primarily beauty and lifestyle though.

How long have you been blogging for?
Since April 2014, so just over a year and a half!

Whos Blog inspires you and why?
I am constantly inspired by Hayley's blog (teapartybeauty.com) because she's so down to earth, her photography is banging and she doesn't bullshit anything ever. That and she's a fab person, too!

What hobbies do you have?
Blogging (duh)! I also spend a lot of my free time at gigs and festivals, I'm a real music lover!

Favourite place?
My favourite place in the whole wide world is Chiang Mai, Thailand. My grandparents used to live there and it's just the most amazing place. My favourite place a little more local is my bed for sure.

Pet peeve?
When people use the word "brought" instead of "bought". Like, no. You wouldn't say bring instead of buy DON'T SAY BROUGHT INSTEAD OF BOUGHT. Also people who unnecessarily tell people their child's age in months. "Oh, he 24 months" Two. Your child is two.

Least favourite food?
Oh god that's a hard question. Probably olives. I really hate olives.

Describe yourself in 3 words
Friendly, loud and funny (I hope)

Celebrity Crush?
I'd like a Channing Tatum under my Christmas tree please and thank you.

What does Girlgang means to you?
It means community to me. It means that people have somewhere to go and people to talk to whenever they need it. (And hopefully it means there'll be a drop in shitty Twitter dramz).

Christmas Fact

fact

Mistletoe literally means “dung twig.” “Mistal” is an Anglo-Saxon word that means “dung” and “tan” means “twig,”

Why do we kiss under this do you still think it sounds romantic!

Shoot for the Stars Bathbomb

I love Lush at this time of year all the best bath products come out. Snow Fairy shower gel, Candy Mountain bubble bar and my favourite Shoot for the Stars bath bomb.

I love the scent of the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb, it smells like the Honey I washed the Kids soap which I also love.

On popping the bomb in the bath it whirls around foaming pretty blue and red swirls. Its lasts a good 10 minutes before totally dissolving.

The colour of the water it leaves behind is my reason for loving this so much, Its like a midnight sky. I love that the bath is full with twinkling silver glitter yet I don't feel it leaves me covered in it after.

Once out of the bath this leaves the skin feeling very soft and silky and makes you smell subtly delicious.

List of ingredients
Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Brazilian Orange Oil, Bergamot Oil, Cream of Tartar, Titanium Dioxide, Lauryl Betaine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Benzyl Benzoate, Citronellol, Lilial,* Limonene,* Linalool, Perfume, Colour 14700, Colour 45410, Colour 17200, Colour 42090, Colour 45350, Colour 47005, Silver lustre; Pink lustre, White Edible Star

Im stocking up on these again this year before they go again for another 10 months!

Christmas Fact

fact

The record number of Christmas cards sent by a single person in a year is 62,824.

I wonder how many pens they went through and they must have quite a bit of money to pay for all the cards plus postage.

Small Stocking Fillers

Stocking fillers

Every year I get up Christmas morning and before I go down stairs to open my main presents I open my stocking.

The stocking I receive never has expensive gifts in or big items. It normally consists of a diary, a pair of socks and a Terry's Chocolate Orange ... yum.

Stocking Fillers

I thought I would share with you some little stocking fillers ideal for that first glimpse of Christmas day.

1st the mens stocking ideas.

Socks £1 (featured in my £1 gifts post), Hipflask - £2.50 (Home Bargains), little wooden puzzles - 39p (Home Bargains) and Hot chocolate stirring stick 79p (Home Bargains).

Stocking fillers

Now on to the women stocking fillers.

Socks - £1 (poundland), notebook - 39p (Home Bargains), Gingerbread house - 79p (Home Bargains), Collctions Eyeshadow palette - £1 (poundshop), Nail polish - £1 (poundshop), Hot Chocolate stirring stick - 79p (Home Bargains) and Sleek Pout Polish £2.49.

Also packing it out with sweets and chocolate. Candy canes are the perfect Christmas treat.

Do you have stockings or do you go straight to the presents?

Christmas Fact

Many years ago in England a traditional Christmas dinner included a pig head served with mustard. Now I'm not a Turkey fan but I would rather have that in the middle of the table rather than a Pig staring at me.

Dear Daniel

Dear Daniel,

I can't stop thinking about your boots. Yes I already have boots but they are not your boots, your boots are the best!

I first saw your boots on a Autumns night whilst browsing your website. I had just been walking in the rain my boots squelching and making fart noises from the water they soaked up. I got in took them off, socks sodden, made myself a cup of tea with milk no sugar and browsed the internet.

Thats where I 1st saw them, your Mellow tan leather shearing cuff ankle boot. Since then I have been day dreaming of going out jumping in puddles and walking my dogs wearing your amazing footwear.

So this year I am going to ask the Big man to help me get my dream boots that don't leak, so I can have nice warm feet whilst looking stylish at the same time.

Hopefully my letter will get to right place and I will get my dream boots!

#Liphug Lipstick in Saviour Will Come

Liphug saviour will come

You will probably see a lot of Makeup Revolution lipsticks on the blog over the next few months as I went a little lipstick crazy on my last order.

The 1st one I want to talk about is the #Liphug Lipstick in 'Saviour Will Come' This is a Brown / red shade perfect for Autumn / Winter.  I have to admit when I ordered it I thought it was more of a plum/red but Im not too disappointed.

The formula is creamy and moisturising but with a good colour payoff. It also lasts a few hours on the lip without having to reapply.

#liphug saviour will come

The packaging on these lipsticks are sleek and look more expensive than there £2.50 price tag. I love the black and gold detailing.

I ordered 2 of the #Liphug lipsticks just wish I had ordered a few more.

Christmas Fact

Apparently the chances of a white Christmas are just 1 in 10 for England and Wales, and 1 in 6 for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Hopefully we will get lucky this year, nothing more Christmasy than waking up to snow.

Iconic Smokey Palette

Makeup revolution

Up until last week I had never bought a Makeup Revolution palette. I was looking on their website and there was an amazing deal, 'spend £30 get £30 of makeup free.

Now I really didn't need another brown / nude palette but when I saw this I wanted it.

makeup revolution

The palette has 12 shades, 8 shimmers and 4 matte. Every colour perfect for creating that smokey eye that I love wearing for the party season. Its has shades from rose gold to a deep purple and lots of greys to create that dramatic look.

makeup revolution

The payoff on this palette is brilliant for the £6.00 price tag.

The below swatches are from one swipe but is very build-able. I will be using this for my Christmas party this week to create a dark smokey look.

I just need to check out their other palettes now. Can anyone recommend any?

There are 13 Santas in Iceland, each leaving a gift for children. They call them the Yule Lad or Yule Men and they come down from the mountain one by one, starting on December 12 and have names like Spoon Licker, Doorway Sniffer, Sausage Swiper and Meat Hook. Every night, one Yuletide lad visits each child, leaving gifts or rotting potatoes, depending on the child’s behavior

Intergalactic Bath Bomb - Lush | Review

Intergalactic bath bomb

I love Lush bath bombs, my favourite one is a Christmas release 'Shoot for the Stars'. On going into Lush and seeing a demo I fell in love with Intergalactic.

Intergalactic really is out of this world, I could watch them fizz away for hours. All the different coloured layers makes a magical show in front of your eyes. Pinks, yellows, greens, blue and also gold glitter, wow. It also contains popping candy too which you have to really listen for but its there.

Intergalactic bath bomb

The scent of this bomb is very pepperminty so a perfect scent for man or women (unless your not a mint lover).

The bomb itself has 17 ingredients and is vegan friendly

Sodium Bicarbonate
Citric Acid
Popping Candy
Perfume
Cream of Tartar
Water (Aqua)
Peppermint Oil
Grapefruit Oil
Vetivert Oil
Cedarwood Oil
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Lauryl Betaine
Limonene
Linalool
Snowflake, Lemon Ice and Gold Glimmer Lustre
Colour 42090
Colour 45410

I think I have found another favourite. I felt lovely and soft and will definitely be repurchasing.

Have you tried this? Whats your favourite bath bomb?

Christmas Fact

Christmas trees usually grow for about 15 years before they are sold.

This makes me feel a bit sad that I didn't appreciate it more when I had it . 15 years growing for us to enjoy it for 4 weeks at the most.

Christmas Fact

Male reindeers shed their antlers around Christmas, but think about it Santa’s reindeers they mostly have male-sounding names, such as Blitzen, Comet, and Cupid even Rudolph.  So the reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh are likely not male, but female or castrati.

Share the Love Sunday

share the love

I am going to start a new feature on the blog. Each Sunday I will choose a handful of posts or blogs I have loved reading that week. I think we all need to give people a bit more love and recognition for the work they put into writing a post. I for one knows how much time it takes and I'm on maternity at the moment so should have more time than ever.

So here they are the wonderful blog posts that have stuck in my head this week.

Pieces of Kate  has had a few posts I have loved to read this week one being on Tips to save money on a winter wardrobe. She has some lovely tips and also I love the outfit she is wearing. The next post is one for the mummies out there, its a post on simple ways to keep your baby happy. She's shares some wonderful tips on massage and stretching to help keep little ones happy.

Tea Party Beauty  had a very honest post on her weight issues this week which was a good read. I love how she doing it long haul and not talking the short cut fad diets that don't work. I look forward to following this journey.

Retro and Thrift's post on making your own pick me up box was something that really got me thinking. I think this is a really good idea and will benefit a lot of people. The post is positive not like most that talk about anxiety and mental health.
She also has a cute christmas header too. I really urge for people to check this post out if you a little sad or missing family etc.

Skinned Cartree  is a blog I read a lot and this week was no different. The post on her not going to hit her year ends goals really struck a chord with me. Why do we do this... Yes we do it to keep ourselves motivated but are we setting ourself up for failure. Next year Im going to set myself more realistic goals and then celebrate each and everyone of them. My real goal is to still enjoy it and I do!

The Last post I won't forget for a long time is one by the wonderful Dorkface. Yes I think you will all have read this by now, its the amazing Bloggers Girl Gang post do I wanna be in her gang?? HELL YES!!!
You need to read this post if you haven't. We all need to pledge to those rules, us bloggers need to support each other and give credit where due and if we don't have anything nice to say button it and let others that do spread the love.
Wear the badge with pride go over there and copy and paste the badge into your sidebar and be part of the best gang ever!

So there are some of the posts I have been loving this week. Hope you found a post you haven't read and shared a bit of love. You never know your comment might make someones day.

Cheerz Photo Gift Ideas | Christmas

Christmas Gift

I always think sentimental Christmas presents are the best oh and also chocolate haha! Cheerz is a photo printing company with some amazing gift ideas for Christmas at an affordable price.

The 2 products I opted for where the Christmas Cheerz Box and the Christmas Magnets.

The Christmas Cheerz Box can contain up to 45 photos, I went for 30. I love how these are printed polaroid style and captions can be added if you wish. I think these are the perfect Christmas present for parents/ grandparents/ best friends. The box they come is beautiful and very sturdy so no chance of photos getting damaged. I won't even bother wrapping it up.

christmas gift

The magnets are so cute. My mum always has things stuck to her fridge so thought these would be the perfect gift. This box contains 8 picture magnets and then 2 free Merry Cheerzmas ones which are sweet.

Once again they came in a beautiful sturdy box with no need for wrapping. Bonus!

christmas gift

They also have Christmas Photo Albums available which Im thinking of ordering and also single pictures can be printed too.

I am so happy with the quality of the picture and also ease of ordering. They're delivered from France too and still only took a few days to arrive.

Are you a buyer of sentimental gifts?
