A little Accidental Haul

Monday's need I say more well half a day at work and I already needed a little Pick me up and thought of the perfect treat for myself. So lunch was a little wonder into town to pick up a Lush Bath Bomb.

(As you can see bought a little more than a bath bomb oops! )

I stepped into Lush and Knew exactly what I had come for the 'Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb' I love it turns your water into the Midnight Sky, Dark blue and Glittery.

The only problem with Lush is the Very helpful staff. Im the first to admit I can talk for England and especially when its something I'm passionate about. Well all I will say is I'm very easily persuaded Lush, and came out with 2 Bath Bombs and a little Snow Fairy Shower Gel. I have never tried this. I know I'm a massive Lush fan and not tried their most popular limited edition product, Slap hand!!

I have to say this is a lot sweeter than expected and have but I have fell in love with it and now know what all the fuss is about.

The Bombs I got was shoot for the stars and Golden wonder, another christmas item I hadn't yet tried but heard exciting things about. This was straight in the bath when I got in and the colours it made was brilliant.

I also had a little browse around Dorothy Perkins for some tights but came out with some bracelets. A random purchase and forgot about the tights but these were £1.50 in the sale so couldn't leave them behind. I also bought a second set as a little stocking filler.

The final place I stopped by was body shop and I had another one of the Joy cards from Glamour mag so thought I would treat myself to a body butter. I got my favourite scent in Blueberry, this smells like purple opal fruits (sorry starbursts as my partner reminded me) and I just want to east it with a spoon. I also had a good sniff of the Mango shower gel and bought one of them too.

I felt a lot better on my return to work and the rest of the day went pretty fast. I do love a spot of shopping to brighten up the day.

Guest Post - Haircare Tips

So this is our 1st Guest Post on our blog. Hannah sent this over in an email and I thought it was a lovely read and very informative so thought I would share with you guys ........

I wish I could say I have a full head of beautiful, shiny, vibrant, long hair. But having been battling hormonal imbalances and all the goodies that come with it - hair loss among others, for practically all my life, flowing locks for me are nothing more than a silly dream. Seeing my head under fluorescent lighting makes me want to bawl like a baby but hey, it is what it is and no amount of tears will make me

grow new hair follicles so I try to deal the best way I can. I know I don't have a lot of hair but what little I have left on my head, I have every intention of saving. I thought I'd share a couple of tips with you but please note that these, by no stretch of the imagination, must be taken as expert advice, these are just things I do that work for me, well, so far.

I don't wash my hair everyday. Constant washing strips natural oils away from hair so it makes it dry, weak and brittle.

I try to eat and sleep well and exercise regularly. Needless to say, what we put inside our bodies shows up on the outside and improved overall health reflects on our skin and hair.

To lessen the pull and prevent more hair from falling out, I comb my hair with a wide-tooth comb.

I don't use heating tools. I stand in front of a fan to dry my hair. If I have to style it, I use regular rollers from time to time. If you really must use heat-styling tools, apply heat protectant first to minimize the damage.

I don't tie my hair. It's not very long anyway but for those of you who like to wear a ponytail, don't tie it too tightly so as to avoid stressing the strands.

To minimize split ends, I trim my hair regularly. Plus my hair tends to fall off more the longer it grows so I really have no choice but to cut it off every so often.

When under the sun or when swimming, I slather on conditioner, use SPF serum or spray, and wear a hat. Just simple ways to protect hair from harmful UV rays and chlorine we tend to disregard.

I use a mild shampoo that has biotin in it. Biotin is said to promote healthy hair growth. I don't use conditioner very often but when I do, I only apply it on the tips.

I use masks and treatments every once in a while to moisturize my hair.

And lastly, with the state my hair is in, color and perm are huge no-nos for me.

That's about it, I think. A woman's hair is her crowning glory, they say. It doesn't matter whether you have thick or fine hair, it's important we give it the same care we give the rest of our body. Thanks for reading! Eat healthy, drink lots of water, and take vitamins. Be safe everyone!

Autumn looks - Mac Divine Night

Although I love shopping for a autumn wardrobe the one thing I don't like about this season is the dark plum/red lipsticks that I find soooo hard to pull off.
I usually attempt to buy a nice autumn lipstick shade, browse around the makeup counters, pick one out to try on then wipe it straight back off again.

I thought I would be brave this year and give it another go, this time instead of overwhelming myself in boots with all the different brands and colour options I headed straight for Mac and decided to take what felt like an eternity swatching a handful of shades and textures  over and over again until they all seemed to look the same.

Through exhaustion and frustration of trying to pick the right one I thought I would just be easier to go for one of the looks that Mac are advertising this season, Divine Night, the model looks stunning I really like the lipstick shade and I figured that as the model is quite pale skinned  it should be safe enough to give it a go.

At first when I tried it on I was like "wow! not sure about this" but like with anything new I figured it would take a bit of getting used to so i was super brave and took the plunge  I went for the lipstick £16.50 and cremesheen glass £19, both in  shade "private party" which is the colour on the model in the picture above. It is described as a dirty plum mauve colour.
I also think when using such bold shades it is important to use a lip pencil to ensure you get a nice defined and perfect pout :) I was pretty happy with the colour match between the lipstick and pencil which I bought in shade "currant" £12

(without flash)

(with Flash )

(Lipstick with Gloss over)

As I don't often wear these deep shades I think I will wait for our night out this weekend before giving it a real go rather than wear it as an every day shade, I am hoping that I might get used to it and experiment a little more with lipstick shades in the future.

Anyone else dared to make a change this season?

So here you have it ladies n gents, let's see who can do it for all 14 weeks straight ;)

"May the odds be ever in your favor"

Suti Rejuvenate Face Oil

Last month I did a Autumn beauty box swap with Sandra from Beauty Balm and was lucky enough to receive this little treasure in my box of goodies. Now I am one of these people that says 'ooo I will buy a face oil next time I go shopping' and then get totally side tracked and come back with anything but. I've been known to go into a shop for some socks and come out with 3 pairs of ridiculous novelty sunglasses for the girls I work with and a lipbalm. Socks no where to be seen, For some reason a pair of pineapple sunglasses made me forget I needed these!

So now I've just gone so off topic but oh well.... I was saying I received a Sample of Suti Rejuvenate Face  Oil in my recent box swap and I was so happy with this product. I keep it at the side of my bed and every night after fully cleansing my face I apply a few drops to my finger tip and gently rub into my face in upward stokes.

It is described by Suti  as 'A vibrant, mood lifting blend of Neroli and zesty Tangerine to help alleviate stress and bring calm to the mind. The Rejuvenate Face Oil is a silky and luxurious elixir that sinks straight into the skin without feeling greasy, locking in moisture just where it’s needed.'

Now it does feel a little greasy at first but personally I love the feel of this and can tell it is hydrating my face straight after applying.

I have been using this about 3 weeks now and I haven't had any breakouts and my skin feel so soft and hydrated compared to how it was before.

Its active formulation includes Evening Primrose Oil, Sandalwood and Frankincense to heal, repair and promote skin cell growth; Rosehip Seed Oil reputed to smooth scar tissue and help restore elasticity in the skin, and Argan Oil to calm irritated, inflamed and blemished skin.

I will definitely be repurchasing this product as I cannot imagine at the moment going back to not having it unless I find something else to replace it.

Has anyone else tried this product or use any other oil for the same purposes.

Fact of the day

If you are allergic to your favorite pair of earings and they leave you with itchy red earlopes try rubbing a little bit of Vaseline on the back of the earing and the butterfly (fastening) this should keep the itchiness at bay, works for me everytime!

Deal of the Month

Every month I browse the Magazines for good content or a worth while freebie. This month I was so happy to see Glamour which is only £2 giving away Nails Inc nail polishes!

I choose a lovely Gold shade perfect for Christmas and was really happy with my £2 purchase.

Then I was reading the magazine and turned to a page full of Body Shop gift ideas. Stuck on the page was a little card Called a Joy Card with each one been worth at least £3.

I love the Body Shop and their Body Butters and Shower Gels so another added little Gift. I went to the body shop on my way home from work and purchased a Mango Shower Gel one I have wanted for a while I love the scent and with my Voucher it cost me £1!!!!

So for £3 in total I got a pretty good magazine a Nails Inc polish and a Body Shop Shower Gel which I normally pay £4 for anyway.

Has anyone else used their Joy Card and if so what did you get?

kallisto Creams and Giveaway

Anyone that knows me knows my love and appreciation for handmade products as a result of this over the years I have been making cards, baking novelty cakes and sewing hanging hearts and pillows.

I also am a supporter of little businesses and love it when I receive handmade products as gifts. A few months back I found the Fabrication Shop in Leeds Light shopping centre. The Fabrication Shop is amazing selling around 50 different Artists, Designers and Makers work. You can find anything from Clothes, Jewellery to Skincare.

The 1st time I went in I came across a Local Leeds company called Kallisto Creams and I picked up a Lipbalm as I was running out of my current one at the time. The one I picked up was the Cocoa and Orange lip balm and this little product had me going back again and again. I have used their Soaps and bath bombs since and Love everything I have tried.

Last week Maria at Kallisto Creams asked me if I would like to sample a few more of her products and I jumped at the chance.

Kallisto Creams is a lifestyle choice for those ethically conscious individuals who desire moisturised, protected and radiant skin but seek an alternative to the mass-produced, chemically-laden toiletries and cosmetics without sacrificing any luxury. All products are made from Natural ingredients perfect for my sensitive skin.

I went up to the shop to collect the products and Couldn't help purchasing some little goodies for you lovely lot to try. I picked up my favourite lip balm for you to try and hopefully love as much as me and also a Honey Sugar Scrub perfect for dry stubborn skin at this time of year.

The Bag of goodies she left me was just lovely. I love her simple packaging with handwritten labels to me it gives it that extra little touch of homemade warmness. On opening the bag I saw a lovely little cardboard box tied with brown string and little ball decorations. A perfect Christmas Gift.

And here is what I received in side -

Vanilla Body Scrub *

I cannot begin to explain how gorgeous this smells its Very vanilla scented but smells so creamy. I have used this on my hand and the smell has lasted hours I could eat it its that nice.  This is the product Im most excited about trying.

Vanilla Body cream *

once again the smell is amazing and the cream is so thick and creamy the perfect consistency for a body cream.

Grapefruit hand Softener *

I am so happy I received this as I tried this in the shop and couldn't believe how thick and luxurious the hand sofner was. The scent is fruity and fresh too the perfect combination for a hand cream. I will definitely be repurchasing this.

Last but not Least

Cocoa and Orange Lipbalm *

This is my favourite all time Lip balm it is so moisturising but not sticky at all. I had recently ran out so was so happy to receive this. My lips were so dry before using this and with days all the dry cracks had gone.

Please go to the website and have a browse and if your ever in Leeds pop in and take a look at the little Gift boxes perfect for Christmas presents and also you are supporting Local Businesses.

http://www.kallistocreams.co.uk/

So here you go your chance to try some of these lovely products. These were bought and paid for by myself  -

Good luck and I hope you like these as much as I do
You will see a more in depth review of the products when I have used them all for a good length of time to give a true opinion.

Boots 3 for 2 haul

There's only one thing that can beat boots 3 for 2 deal and that's a 3for 2 deal with an extra £3 off yes that's right you heard me correctly. I couldn't believe it when I received this voucher after purchasing a meal deal.

I was running out of foundation so now was perfect timing. I used my voucher to get a new foundation, a lipstick and a mascara.

The foundation I chose was Rimmels Wake Me Up foundation in True Ivory. I chose this as I had read good things about it and wanted a more lighter coverage foundation than the one I am using at the minute. I love the pump on here I gives the perfect amount of product. The product itself is lovely too gives a nice natural finish and doesn't feel heavy.

I then Chose a Rimmels Lip butter in Candy apple as thought this would be the perfect moisturising red for this time of year and I have been loving it wearing it every day over a little lip balm for a more subtle look for the office.

I then needed a new Mascara I always get the Bourjoirs Clubbing Mascara but after hearing alot of good reviews on Maybellines the Falsies I thought this was the perfect time to try it whilst I was getting it for absolutely free. I do like it alot at first I want so sure but it growing on me and Im getting use to applying better. Not sure if I will stick with it or go back to my old faithful yet.

I got all these for £13.98 what a Bargain!!!

Anyone else benefit from this deal??

DIY Ideas For A Lazy Sunday

So lately I have been trying to come up with money saving ways to organise my stuff. I have a lot of Earrings but do I wear them all .... NO and why? because I cannot see them all.

I had some spare canvases In my art cupboard and decided I could use one to display my earrings.

All I had to do was push my earrings through the canvas where ever I wanted them and they went through really easy. I just added a little dress cut out from my card making stash and that was it piece of cake and it hangs perfectly on the wall, adding a nice little touch to my beauty room wall.

Next I had lots of Yankee candles which Didn't light any more but there was far too much wax left to throw away. So I set off melting down the wax to make wax melts.

All I did was sit the candle Jars in a boiling hot bowl of water. I decided it would be fun to make Christmasy wax melts. So I used Chrismas Tree and Ginger Bread Men cookie cutters and layed them onto a baking sheet and poured in the melted wax leaving a couple of minutes to harden before popping them out. I then left them to dry for a further 10 minutes before putting them away.

These are going to be brilliant as little stocking fillers as My mum is wanting some yankee candles for Christmas as has never had any, so this way I can buy her a few big ones and also she can burn a few of these too so she knows which smells she prefers.

I love doing DIY and have lots more things planned over the next few weeks included handmade Christmas gifts.

Do any of you make any handmade gifts for christmas??
