July Favourites

Sunday, August 04, 2013

Wow how fast has this month gone, it is time for our July favourites Again we have each highlighted 3 products that we have been loving through July including an old faithful ,such as a re-buy or everyday use item, a new discovery that we have bought or tried for the first time and fallen for, a most recommended which would be a bargain, quality dupe or just something we are raving about and we also wanted to include a 'not for me' section where we can tell you something that we haven't been loving this month.

So here goes...

Lisa’s favourites
Old faithful – Liz Earle hot cloth, Cleanse and Polish

I have just run out of this and went to buy another tube yesterday and it was while I was prusing the Liz Earle shelves in boots that I remembered how much I love this stuff and have come to rely on it. It manages to break through the vast amount of makeup I ware each day and never bring me out in spots! If anything I would say my skin has cleared up dramatically since using this regularly.

New discovery –Smashbox Legendary  lipstick In Pretty Social  I can see Smashbox becoming my most purchased brand I seem to love everything that I have come across so far and this lipstick is not exception. I love the balm texture to it and this colour is just sooo cute! I will definitely be checking out more shade and I really want to check out their eyeshadows.

Most recommended – Urban Decay, De-slick setting spray

I think I ranted about this enough it the post I put up recently, but I don’t mind ranting on about it a bit more. This stuff seriously made massive improvement to the longitivity of my foundation I honestly can go all day without having to touch up and that has never been something I could do before, it keeps great control of my oily skin and stops my makeup sliding off my face I love love love this !!

Not for me – Sk:n Exfoliate cleanser

I was really gutted about his as it offered so much promise for reducing my oilyness and reducing my beakouts.
The first couple of times I used this my sking felt amazing soft and smooth not to mentions extremely clean. I loved the tingly sensation it gives which makes you feel like it is really doing something amazing but after frequent use ( about twice a week) I ended up a big spotty mess, I know that a lot of products for acne prone skin work by bringing impurities to the surface but
instead of them coming out and clearing up I just seemed to be getting more and more on each
use!
Maybe if continuing to use it might have eventually given me what I wanted but I just couldn’t put up with week after week being covered in big painful spots so I wasn’t going to take the risk.

Carrieanne's favourites

Old faithful
- Bourjois Clubbing Mascara Extreme Black

This is my all time favourite mascara i would say i like it as much as Theyre real by Benefit but is is more than half the price so it beats everytime. It makes my eyes really stand out by lengthening and thickening.

New Discovery - collection concealer

So yes I'm a little late on this bandwagon but I can't believe I put it off this long. I love using it now and know I will definitely rebuy. I use this for red patches and if I have dark circles and it works perfectly. Compared to it high end rivals I think this puts up a good fight and at less than half the cost.

Most recommended -  Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

So  I wanted this for ages and finally bit the bullet last month. I have to say I fell in love Instantly my foundation went on flawlessly and its even good for contouring and blush.

If you are going to buy any of the real technique brushes I would say get this one as its so versatile and applies foundation effortlessly you can buy it Here for £9.99.

Not for me - Balance me Moisturiser

I recieved this in a magazine and was so looking forward to it as I heard good things about these products. I have dry skin and choose the the dry/ sensitive type, but I found this really thick and didn't leave my face hydrated at all.
Its made from all natural products which was another reason I really wanted to get on with it, and
like most natural product the smell was quite herbal which could be a little over powering for some.

I hope you like our little twist on the monthly favourites and thanks for reading

Toodles

  1. Agree entirely about the UD setting spray; can't live without it and the dupes come nowhere near it! How would you say the Soap and Glory Fab Pore hot cloth cleanser rates against the Liz Earle one?
