Sleek - Contour and Blush Palette Light

Until this Christmas I only owned one Sleek product, which was a bronzer I received in a Glossy Box. I loved this Bronzer but never got round to repurchasing any more. This Christmas I decided it was time I expanded my Sleek collection so asked my mum for a few Sleek palettes. Superdrug and their amazing 3 for 2 deal meant I got 3 palettes for the amazing price of £18.00. I received 2 I-Devine eyeshadow palettes and a Contouring and Blush palette in the shade light.

I was really excited to receive this Christmas Day as its the perfect trio to take on weekends away and holidays where you want to minimise the amount of makeup you take with you ( something I find very hard).

I do love Sleeks packaging its so well ... SLEEK! The only downside is I'm a messy bugger so I get them dirty pretty fast.

Onto the palette, it contains 3 products a contour, a highlighter and a blush and wow beautiful colours and the pigmentation of this palette is amazing.

The bronzer is a lovely matte brown perfect as I'm not always up for a shimmery contour. I am fair and normally find Bronzers to be a bit on the darkish for me but this works well and blends to give the perfect contoured face.

The highlighter is very shimmery but does blend to give a subtle highlight. I really like a shimmery highlight so this hits the nail on the head for me.

As for the blush wow look at that shimmer the different tones in this is amazing I couldn't believe the pigmentation. Now I do love my matte blushes but every now and then I love reaching for a shimmer blush and this is the perfect shade. A beautiful pink with coral undertones and shimmer. It works so well.

I'm so happy with this palette and think the shades work really well together. I have had compliments when I wore these too so added bonus.

I will do a review on the eye shadow palettes too once I use them a little more.
Hope you all had a great Christmas

Tip of the Day - How to Avoid Static Hair

Flyaway static hair always seem to get worse as it gets colder. This is due to heating making the air dry which in turn dehydrates your hair. These simple steps can help to minimise the problem:

  • Deep conditioning - treat your hair to a deep conditioning treatment as moisturised hair will be less prone to static and also leaves it feel softer and looking shinier.
  • Leave-in conditioner - now is the time of year to invest in a leave in conditioner.  Spray it onto wet hair after you have shampooed and conditioned.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals - hair products with alcohol in them will dry your hair out.
  • Anti-static sprays - you can buy anti-static sprays which can help. You can also spray it into hoods and hats!

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 19 Fuchsia In Rage

Me, Lisa and our friend Emma always swap Christmas presents before Christmas and have a little girly night out or In. This year was no different and I got some amazing gifts, Thanks Girls!!!!

One present I received was the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Fuchsia in Rage. First of all can we take a minute to appreciate how gorgeous the packaging is. I do love YSL for there gorgeous elegant packaging on all their make up but this has to be my favorite. I also love how the colour of the product is shown between the Logo so you can pick out the colour you need if you had a few of these.

The colour looks a little scary in the packaging but once applied it looks absolutely gorgeous. It is a very buildable colour so you can layer up for a more daring/ bolder look or stick to a more lighter/ natural look.

The Formula of this lipstick is amazing and I absolutely love it. Its a very creamy texture and very moisturising on the lips. Also I didnt expect much stayability from this product due to the high shine and creaminess but I was wrong. I did the bad beauty habit of falling asleep in my makeup after a night out and when I woke up I still had a purple stain to my lips. So this has at least a 7 hour staying power.

This lipstick is an all around winner for me. I love absolutely everything about it and will definitely be repurchasing more of the collection.

Can anyone else recommend any more shades of this??

Fact of the day

Use darker shadow on the outer corners of your eyes (brown, grey or black). The contrast of lighter and darker colours will help to make your eyes look bigger.

Winter facts and tips of the day

Skin isn't the only thing you have to worry in the winter months hair is also effected by Wind, indoor heat and moisture sapping winter weather. Winter weather makes it easier for you hair to tangle and break.
Using serum on the ends of hair before going into harsh winter weather can prevent splitting and faded ends, Strengthening treatments and masks will also help combat dehydration.

New make up storage

Every Tuesday myself my partner and a friend go for a curry and 9 times out of 10 go for a wander round Sainsburys after. This week was no different.

I normally leave them as I browse the stuff they call 'Christmas shit!!' They look at the electrical Aisles. When I went to look for them they were down the homeware aisle and I clocked eyes on something I had been looking for, for a while. 2 beautiful storage boxes with drawers.

The 1st set I picked up is a wide set of 2 drawers and I thought this would be perfect for my blushes and loose eyeshadows. The drawers are wide and long and pretty deep too. Perfect size to fit all my make up. This set me back (well my boyfriend) £8.00 which I thought was amazing.

The next set I got was a thinner set of 3 boxes which I thought would be the new house for my lip liners eyeliners and mascaras and also lip glosses. These drawers are the perfect size and deepness to fit all my eyeliners and lip products. I got this for the bargin price of £6.00!!

I'm really happy with my new storage and even happier with the price.

Have you got any bargains finds let me know and leave links to posts I'd love a nosey

Winter Facts and Tips of the day

In winter we feel less thirsty therefore drink less. It is crucial we keep our skin and the rest of us hydrated. Clear soups and herbal teas along with plenty of water will keep us hydrated inside and out and help flush out toxins.

Winter facts and tips of the day

Are you feeling stressed out? Are you lips getting Drier?

People tend to bite and lick their lips when they're stressed, causing them to get even dryer. Try to resist the habit, and drink plenty of water to keep your skin and lips hydrated.

Maybelline Colour Tattoos - Pink gold and Permanent Taupe

Once again I gave into the 3 for 2 temptation at Boots. A couple of months ago I bought a Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Bronze on Bronze and fell in love using this nearly every day. I said I would go straight back out and buy more but for some reason never did.

A few weeks ago I did my Partners makeup for an event and wanted something to stay and stand out so used my Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Bronze on Bronze and she too fell instantly in love with and got lots of compliments. I promised her I would get it her for Christmas.

Last week in Boots as promised I got her the Bronze on Bronze and thought it would be rude not to take advantage of the 3 for 2 offer so bought myself the Pink gold and the Permanent Taupe Colour Tattoos.

The Rose Gold is an amazing Shimmery pink and will be perfect blended into a subtle brown for an everyday look. I don't normally go for pink eyeshadows but this one is more of an dusty rose and I love it.

I bought the Permanent Taupe as this is a matte Cream eyeshadow and I don't have anything like this. I cannot wait to experiment with this for smokey eyes or just in the crease for a more natural look.

The pigmentation in these eyeshadows are amazing and last me all day whilst at work. I will definitly be buying more of the range as Im super impressed with all 3 and are brilliant for an in a rush eye makeup.

What other colours should I try do you have a favourite??

Winter facts and tips of the day

Dry Lips????
Exfoliating your lips with your face scrub breaks down the barrier needed to lock moisture in. So you may think rubbing away is helping but it is only making it worse.
Use a Petroleum based lip balm and slather on twice a day to get softer lips.

Kallisto Creams Grapefruit Hand Softener

I hate dry cracked hands in Winter and I suffer badly I have at least 2 hand creams in my drawer at work a L'Occitane hand cream in my bag for on the go emergencies and I use one every morning and Night.

The one I have been using as part of my Morning and Night time ritual is the Grapefruit Hand softner* from Kallisto Creams. I was sent this to try from the lovely Marie from kallistocreams and was so excited to try this as I had seen it in the shop and this was next on my list to try.

The product itself is so rich and creamy and has a lovely fresh and fruity scent which is not too over powering.  I use this every morning and night after applying my face creams and I have really noticed a Difference. It is made from all Natural products and is handmade which I love in a product. A little also goes a long way I have been using this for about 3 weeks and have over 3/4 left.

Also if you need an intense hydrating boost put on a thick layer and wear some cotton gloves and leave over night to work its magic.

My hands and so much softer since using this product and my dry cracked skin round my finger nails have almost disappeared. This is a little miracle product for me at the moment.

What is your miracle product at the moment?

Fact of the day

Some fake tan goes bright green when it goes off, this is a result of the product breaking down over time or when it has been exposed to heat or air, never use your fake tan if it isn't nice and brown.

A little Accidental Haul

Monday's need I say more well half a day at work and I already needed a little Pick me up and thought of the perfect treat for myself. So lunch was a little wonder into town to pick up a Lush Bath Bomb.

(As you can see bought a little more than a bath bomb oops! )

I stepped into Lush and Knew exactly what I had come for the 'Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb' I love it turns your water into the Midnight Sky, Dark blue and Glittery.

The only problem with Lush is the Very helpful staff. Im the first to admit I can talk for England and especially when its something I'm passionate about. Well all I will say is I'm very easily persuaded Lush, and came out with 2 Bath Bombs and a little Snow Fairy Shower Gel. I have never tried this. I know I'm a massive Lush fan and not tried their most popular limited edition product, Slap hand!!

I have to say this is a lot sweeter than expected and have but I have fell in love with it and now know what all the fuss is about.

The Bombs I got was shoot for the stars and Golden wonder, another christmas item I hadn't yet tried but heard exciting things about. This was straight in the bath when I got in and the colours it made was brilliant.

I also had a little browse around Dorothy Perkins for some tights but came out with some bracelets. A random purchase and forgot about the tights but these were £1.50 in the sale so couldn't leave them behind. I also bought a second set as a little stocking filler.

The final place I stopped by was body shop and I had another one of the Joy cards from Glamour mag so thought I would treat myself to a body butter. I got my favourite scent in Blueberry, this smells like purple opal fruits (sorry starbursts as my partner reminded me) and I just want to east it with a spoon. I also had a good sniff of the Mango shower gel and bought one of them too.

I felt a lot better on my return to work and the rest of the day went pretty fast. I do love a spot of shopping to brighten up the day.

Guest Post - Haircare Tips

So this is our 1st Guest Post on our blog. Hannah sent this over in an email and I thought it was a lovely read and very informative so thought I would share with you guys ........

I wish I could say I have a full head of beautiful, shiny, vibrant, long hair. But having been battling hormonal imbalances and all the goodies that come with it - hair loss among others, for practically all my life, flowing locks for me are nothing more than a silly dream. Seeing my head under fluorescent lighting makes me want to bawl like a baby but hey, it is what it is and no amount of tears will make me

grow new hair follicles so I try to deal the best way I can. I know I don't have a lot of hair but what little I have left on my head, I have every intention of saving. I thought I'd share a couple of tips with you but please note that these, by no stretch of the imagination, must be taken as expert advice, these are just things I do that work for me, well, so far.

I don't wash my hair everyday. Constant washing strips natural oils away from hair so it makes it dry, weak and brittle.

I try to eat and sleep well and exercise regularly. Needless to say, what we put inside our bodies shows up on the outside and improved overall health reflects on our skin and hair.

To lessen the pull and prevent more hair from falling out, I comb my hair with a wide-tooth comb.

I don't use heating tools. I stand in front of a fan to dry my hair. If I have to style it, I use regular rollers from time to time. If you really must use heat-styling tools, apply heat protectant first to minimize the damage.

I don't tie my hair. It's not very long anyway but for those of you who like to wear a ponytail, don't tie it too tightly so as to avoid stressing the strands.

To minimize split ends, I trim my hair regularly. Plus my hair tends to fall off more the longer it grows so I really have no choice but to cut it off every so often.

When under the sun or when swimming, I slather on conditioner, use SPF serum or spray, and wear a hat. Just simple ways to protect hair from harmful UV rays and chlorine we tend to disregard.

I use a mild shampoo that has biotin in it. Biotin is said to promote healthy hair growth. I don't use conditioner very often but when I do, I only apply it on the tips.

I use masks and treatments every once in a while to moisturize my hair.

And lastly, with the state my hair is in, color and perm are huge no-nos for me.

That's about it, I think. A woman's hair is her crowning glory, they say. It doesn't matter whether you have thick or fine hair, it's important we give it the same care we give the rest of our body. Thanks for reading! Eat healthy, drink lots of water, and take vitamins. Be safe everyone!

Autumn looks - Mac Divine Night

Although I love shopping for a autumn wardrobe the one thing I don't like about this season is the dark plum/red lipsticks that I find soooo hard to pull off.
I usually attempt to buy a nice autumn lipstick shade, browse around the makeup counters, pick one out to try on then wipe it straight back off again.

I thought I would be brave this year and give it another go, this time instead of overwhelming myself in boots with all the different brands and colour options I headed straight for Mac and decided to take what felt like an eternity swatching a handful of shades and textures  over and over again until they all seemed to look the same.

Through exhaustion and frustration of trying to pick the right one I thought I would just be easier to go for one of the looks that Mac are advertising this season, Divine Night, the model looks stunning I really like the lipstick shade and I figured that as the model is quite pale skinned  it should be safe enough to give it a go.

At first when I tried it on I was like "wow! not sure about this" but like with anything new I figured it would take a bit of getting used to so i was super brave and took the plunge  I went for the lipstick £16.50 and cremesheen glass £19, both in  shade "private party" which is the colour on the model in the picture above. It is described as a dirty plum mauve colour.
I also think when using such bold shades it is important to use a lip pencil to ensure you get a nice defined and perfect pout :) I was pretty happy with the colour match between the lipstick and pencil which I bought in shade "currant" £12

(without flash)

(with Flash )

(Lipstick with Gloss over)

As I don't often wear these deep shades I think I will wait for our night out this weekend before giving it a real go rather than wear it as an every day shade, I am hoping that I might get used to it and experiment a little more with lipstick shades in the future.

Anyone else dared to make a change this season?

So here you have it ladies n gents, let's see who can do it for all 14 weeks straight ;)

"May the odds be ever in your favor"

Suti Rejuvenate Face Oil

Last month I did a Autumn beauty box swap with Sandra from Beauty Balm and was lucky enough to receive this little treasure in my box of goodies. Now I am one of these people that says 'ooo I will buy a face oil next time I go shopping' and then get totally side tracked and come back with anything but. I've been known to go into a shop for some socks and come out with 3 pairs of ridiculous novelty sunglasses for the girls I work with and a lipbalm. Socks no where to be seen, For some reason a pair of pineapple sunglasses made me forget I needed these!

So now I've just gone so off topic but oh well.... I was saying I received a Sample of Suti Rejuvenate Face  Oil in my recent box swap and I was so happy with this product. I keep it at the side of my bed and every night after fully cleansing my face I apply a few drops to my finger tip and gently rub into my face in upward stokes.

It is described by Suti  as 'A vibrant, mood lifting blend of Neroli and zesty Tangerine to help alleviate stress and bring calm to the mind. The Rejuvenate Face Oil is a silky and luxurious elixir that sinks straight into the skin without feeling greasy, locking in moisture just where it’s needed.'

Now it does feel a little greasy at first but personally I love the feel of this and can tell it is hydrating my face straight after applying.

I have been using this about 3 weeks now and I haven't had any breakouts and my skin feel so soft and hydrated compared to how it was before.

Its active formulation includes Evening Primrose Oil, Sandalwood and Frankincense to heal, repair and promote skin cell growth; Rosehip Seed Oil reputed to smooth scar tissue and help restore elasticity in the skin, and Argan Oil to calm irritated, inflamed and blemished skin.

I will definitely be repurchasing this product as I cannot imagine at the moment going back to not having it unless I find something else to replace it.

Has anyone else tried this product or use any other oil for the same purposes.

Deal of the Month

Every month I browse the Magazines for good content or a worth while freebie. This month I was so happy to see Glamour which is only £2 giving away Nails Inc nail polishes!

I choose a lovely Gold shade perfect for Christmas and was really happy with my £2 purchase.

Then I was reading the magazine and turned to a page full of Body Shop gift ideas. Stuck on the page was a little card Called a Joy Card with each one been worth at least £3.

I love the Body Shop and their Body Butters and Shower Gels so another added little Gift. I went to the body shop on my way home from work and purchased a Mango Shower Gel one I have wanted for a while I love the scent and with my Voucher it cost me £1!!!!

So for £3 in total I got a pretty good magazine a Nails Inc polish and a Body Shop Shower Gel which I normally pay £4 for anyway.

Has anyone else used their Joy Card and if so what did you get?

kallisto Creams and Giveaway

Anyone that knows me knows my love and appreciation for handmade products as a result of this over the years I have been making cards, baking novelty cakes and sewing hanging hearts and pillows.

I also am a supporter of little businesses and love it when I receive handmade products as gifts. A few months back I found the Fabrication Shop in Leeds Light shopping centre. The Fabrication Shop is amazing selling around 50 different Artists, Designers and Makers work. You can find anything from Clothes, Jewellery to Skincare.

The 1st time I went in I came across a Local Leeds company called Kallisto Creams and I picked up a Lipbalm as I was running out of my current one at the time. The one I picked up was the Cocoa and Orange lip balm and this little product had me going back again and again. I have used their Soaps and bath bombs since and Love everything I have tried.

Last week Maria at Kallisto Creams asked me if I would like to sample a few more of her products and I jumped at the chance.

Kallisto Creams is a lifestyle choice for those ethically conscious individuals who desire moisturised, protected and radiant skin but seek an alternative to the mass-produced, chemically-laden toiletries and cosmetics without sacrificing any luxury. All products are made from Natural ingredients perfect for my sensitive skin.

I went up to the shop to collect the products and Couldn't help purchasing some little goodies for you lovely lot to try. I picked up my favourite lip balm for you to try and hopefully love as much as me and also a Honey Sugar Scrub perfect for dry stubborn skin at this time of year.

The Bag of goodies she left me was just lovely. I love her simple packaging with handwritten labels to me it gives it that extra little touch of homemade warmness. On opening the bag I saw a lovely little cardboard box tied with brown string and little ball decorations. A perfect Christmas Gift.

And here is what I received in side -

Vanilla Body Scrub *

I cannot begin to explain how gorgeous this smells its Very vanilla scented but smells so creamy. I have used this on my hand and the smell has lasted hours I could eat it its that nice.  This is the product Im most excited about trying.

Vanilla Body cream *

once again the smell is amazing and the cream is so thick and creamy the perfect consistency for a body cream.

Grapefruit hand Softener *

I am so happy I received this as I tried this in the shop and couldn't believe how thick and luxurious the hand sofner was. The scent is fruity and fresh too the perfect combination for a hand cream. I will definitely be repurchasing this.

Last but not Least

Cocoa and Orange Lipbalm *

This is my favourite all time Lip balm it is so moisturising but not sticky at all. I had recently ran out so was so happy to receive this. My lips were so dry before using this and with days all the dry cracks had gone.

Please go to the website and have a browse and if your ever in Leeds pop in and take a look at the little Gift boxes perfect for Christmas presents and also you are supporting Local Businesses.

http://www.kallistocreams.co.uk/

So here you go your chance to try some of these lovely products. These were bought and paid for by myself  -

Good luck and I hope you like these as much as I do
You will see a more in depth review of the products when I have used them all for a good length of time to give a true opinion.
